Ryan Goldberg

Ryan Goldberg is a freelance writer with an extensive background in print and television journalism. He has written for The New York Times and developed segments for the HBO news magazine program Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. He also writes weekly features for Minyanville.com, a popular financial website. His fate as a writer was sealed when, as a junior in high school, he talked his way into a position as a reporter for the Asbury Park Press, the second-largest newspaper in New Jersey. Before long, his byline became a staple of the sports section. This experience was the centerpiece of his college admissions essay.
Ryan graduated from Brown University in 2005 with a B.A. in Public Policy and American Institutions. Outside the classroom, Ryan dove headlong into politics on campus and in Rhode Island. He served as vice president of the College Democrats and worked for mayoral and gubernatorial campaigns. He also interned at the Scottish Parliament, as part of a study abroad program at the University of Edinburgh. His research paper at the semester’s conclusion was ultimately published in the university’s Journal of Scottish Affairs. Upon graduating from Brown, Ryan returned to journalism, where he currently pursues his many interests – sports, business, politics, and city life. He is an avid surfer, dedicated bicyclist, and fledgling pianist. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Sophie Besel

Sophie Besl is a recent graduate of Harvard College. She has a BA in government and also did extensive coursework in English, creative writing, and social sciences. An award-winning writer, she also has tutoring experience with high school students and those writing college admissions essays and graduate school admissions essays. She is qualified to give you highly accurate, effective, and outside-the-box feedback on essays, as well as all types of college advice. She is friendly, accessible, enthusiastic, and easy to work with.
Sophie was student-body president at her high school, with a 4.0 all four years. She spent her time at Harvard (outside of academics) revamping student organizations, including managing a late-night grille for students. She also worked at Harvard’s Office of Career Services for three years. She now works her post-graduation job at Lawyers Weekly Publications in downtown Boston in their advertising department.
Mary Kuhn

Mary Kuhn is a PhD candidate in English at Boston University and will receive her M.A. from the University this May. She was an undergraduate at Yale where she majored in English and participated in peer counseling and community health education. After receiving her B.A., Mary was awarded the Peter Ling Fellowship to teach at Oundle School, a prestigious private school in the United Kingdom. During her two years working at Oundle Mary taught literature and writing to students aged 11-17. In addition she held a tutor position in a boarding house, and coached cross-country, track and biathlon. In her second year at the school she chaperoned school-sanctioned trips to the Czech Republic and India. To balance out her current school coursework, Mary is an avid runner, hiker, cook and yoga enthusiast.
Ben Lundin

Ben Lundin is a Senior Essay Editor who has advised dozens of students admitted to top universities around the world. As a senior in high school, Ben turned down Yale, Stanford and Princeton to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill after receiving the Morehead Scholarship, the nation’s oldest merit scholarship. Ben graduated from UNC-CH with a B.A. in Religious Studies with Highest Distinction. In 2007, Ben was one of 32 Americans awarded the Rhodes Scholarship, arguably the world’s most prestigious graduate fellowship. Rhodes Alumni include President Clinton, Senator Bill Bradley, General Wesley Clark, and George Stephanopoulos. Ben currently studies Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Pembroke College at Oxford University. Both the Morehead and Rhodes Scholarships place premiums on literary and scholastic achievements and demonstrated leadership skills. Additionally, Ben has substantial experience as an editor. He has served as Copy Editor of Ten Minutes, a daily periodical covering business and political news that was eventually acquired by The Insider. He also edited A Little Extra Effort, the autobiography of Senator Fred Smith. In addition to his full academic workload, Ben maintains a healthy list of hobbies, including fly-fishing, golf and travel. Ben is also the current Head Coach of the Oxford University Men’s Varsity Lacrosse Team.
Liz Gunnison

Liz Gunnison is an essay tutor with a substantial background in both arts and business writing. Liz attended Yale University, from whence she graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in the History of Art. She was at that time awarded the Mark Dietz Memorial Prize for original research by an undergraduate for her work on the senior essay. Having joined the staff of the Yale Daily News as a college freshman, Liz spent two years as a features writer and biweekly arts & living columnist, then went on to become the paper’s features editor.
After graduating, Liz worked as an associate in the New York office of the Boston Consulting Group, performing strategic analyses for major media and financial services clients. She left the business world to pursue writing. Liz is currently a writer for Conde Nast Portfolio and Portfolio.com, covering the consumer and retail segments and writing on various subjects including theater, dining, and athletics. Liz’s interests include cooking, travel, cycling, and film.
Sarah Aronchick

Sara Aronchick is a second year law student at Yale Law School. She graduated from Yale College summa cum laude in 2005, phi beta kappa, winner of the Hadley Prize for most outstanding scholarship in the social sciences, and winner of the Wrexham Prize for best senior essay in the social sciences. She had two jobs since graduation: working for the Chief Economist of Goldman Sachs and working as an economic policy research associate at the Center for American Progress, a Washington D.C. think tank. Both jobs were writing intensive where Sara published and helped publish numerous commentaries on the market, the economy, and public policy.
At Yale law school, Sara is currently an articles editor for the Yale Journal of International Law, co-president of Universities Allied for Essential Medicines, a research assistant to law professors, and a board member of Yale Law Women.

Harrison Greenbaum graduated summa cum laude from Harvard. Elected his senior fall into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society, Harrison was also a John Harvard Scholar, a Harvard College Scholar, and the winner of the Visiting Committee Undergraduate Book Collecting Prize and the Gordon W. Allport Thesis Prize.
Harrison was the first student to ever be featured in both 50 Successful Harvard Essays (2nd edition) and How They Got In: 50 Successful Applicants Share 8 Key Strategies for Getting into the College of Your Choice. Both of these nationally published books highlighted the strength of Harrison’s unique essay writing.
The valedictorian of his high school, Harrison (who twice scored a perfect 800 on the verbal section of the SAT) was listed on the National Honor Roll and Who’s Who Among American High School Students; was a AP National Scholar, National Merit Scholarship Commended Student, and Coca-Cola Scholar Semi-Finalist; and won the Yale Book Award and George Washington University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science Medal.
