How many sessions will my child need?

The number of sessions varies based on the stage at which a student submits his/her essay and the number of schools to which he/she is applying. A normal range is 4-8, hour long sessions per 500 word essay. Working on an hourly basis gives you the flexibility to determine needs on an ad hoc basis.

By when can I expect my essay edits to be returned?

A student can usually expect edits to be returned within 48 hours. Exceptions may be during especially busy times or for especially time intensive jobs. If a tutor expects that it will take over 48 hours to send an edited response the tutor will notify the student. Likewise, if there is a rush on a particular project a student should communicate that to his or her student. We can guarantee return of edits within 24 hours for an added fee.

How do I select the tutor that is best for my child?

Browse our extensive list of tutors posted on the “Tutors” tab. Each tutor profile contains detailed information on the tutor’s educational background, work experience, and personal interests so that your student can find the individual tutor that is best suited for his/her particular needs. If you need help in selecting a tutor or have questions concerning tutor availability, please contact us at: info@carteradmissions.com.

How does online tutoring work?

After enrolling for our services and selecting a tutor, we recommend that the student and tutor have an initial phone call to discuss application goals, set out a tailored timeline for the students’ application process, and communicate work style preferences. After this initial call, most interactions will take place through our website. Students will send us their essays and his/her personal tutor will review the work and send back a revised essay with commentary. This is an iterative process. The student will review proposed edits and work on the essay until he/she is ready to send the tutor the next draft. Tutors can be contacted should there be ay questions regarding the edits.

This method enables students to work at their convenience and maximize their efficiency during what will be a very intense and busy first semester!

How does the payment system work?

Tutors have their own rates, offering you a range of options when selecting a tutor for your child. Every month we will send you an invoice for the charges incurred, indicating the time spent during each session and the particular charge.
